Day 1: Welcome! Prepare for an unforgettable journey through France, starting in the 'City of Light.' This afternoon, gather with fellow travelers and the Travel Director for a Welcome Reception. Enjoy an orientation drive, marveling at the glittering cityscape of Paris, passing grand boulevards, and iconic sites such as the Champs-Élysées and the Arc de Triomphe.
Day 2 : Explore the vibrant town of Honfleur and the Bayeux Tapestry in Normandy. Departing from Paris, we head to Rouen, the poignant site of Joan of Arc's execution. Next, we visit the charming harbor town of Honfleur, celebrated by artists for its picturesque lanes and colorful shopfronts. Upon reaching Bayeux, Dive Into Culture at the Tapestry Museum to witness the Bayeux Tapestry, portraying events leading up to the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Conclude the day with a delightful dinner at our hotel in Bayeux.
Day 3: Embark on a journey through the significant D-Day Landing Beaches today, accompanied by our Local Specialist. Commence the exploration with a visit to the American Rangers Memorial at Pointe du Hoc. Honor the courageous individuals who sacrificed their lives at Omaha Beach, reflecting on the mix of fear and triumph experienced on that pivotal day when Allied forces landed on mainland Europe. For lunch, we pause in the coastal town of Arromanches, where the Mulberry Harbour, central to the Normandy landings, was once located.
Day 4: Explore the scenic landscapes of Normandy and Brittany as you traverse the countryside, taking in the beauty of the calvados region before reaching Brittany. Spend the afternoon at your leisure, indulging in activities of your choice.
Day 5: Begin the day by delving into the UNESCO World Heritage-listed bay of Mont-Saint-Michel. Our Local Specialist provides insights into the history of the remarkable medieval Benedictine Abbey that graces the hilltop. Travel through picturesque countryside, making a stop to Connect With Locals during a lunch with wine at a 17th-century château, offering a unique Be My Guest experience within stunning gardens. Later, proceed to the enchanting Loire Valley, where the next two nights will be spent.
Day 6: Explore the captivating châteaux of the Loire Valley today, accompanied by a Local Specialist who will guide us through the Amboise Royal Château. This historic site hosted King François I and Leonardo da Vinci, whose final resting place is in the Chapel of Saint-Hubert connected to the château. Our journey continues with a visit to Château de Chenonceau, situated on the Cher River and often referred to as the 'Ladies Castle' due to the influential women in its history. Today, it houses invaluable collections, including Renaissance furniture, tapestries, and masterpieces by Rubens and Tintoretto.
Day 7: Proceed to Chartres and Paris on the next leg of our journey. Our initial destination is the town of Chartres, where we'll explore its exquisite Roman Catholic cathedral, recognized as one of the most authentic and well-preserved examples of religious architecture from the early 13th century. In the afternoon, we return to Paris to enjoy the remainder of our day in the 'City of Light.' Conclude the evening with a Farewell Dinner featuring local wines at a Parisian bistro, celebrating with your Travel Director and newfound friends.
